Sandeep, a corrugator supervisor, oversees the production of cardboard and leads a team of nine operators at our Hamilton board site on New Zealand’s North Island. Starting as a dry end operator and advancing to his current role, he values the collaborative nature of the work.
“I enjoy the entire production process, watching paper become a finished product for the customer,” Sandeep says.
“I enjoy working as part of a team and seeing how everyone working together makes this process successful. When we make one product and the customer is satisfied, it represents all these people and processes working well together.”
Sandeep emphasises the importance of team dynamics and fostering a positive work environment. "The people you're around can make or break the job. I've been fortunate to work with some awesome people," he adds.
Sandeep says the team has become very resilient. “Through time and effort, we’ve seen improvement,” he explains. “We’re focused on ensuring operators aren’t drained physically or mentally. We’re supported with things like BBQs and incentive boards— the company does a lot to give back to the crew.”
Sandeep also stresses the importance of building strong relationships in a team-based environment. "This company feels like a family. You play a role in a bigger process, and by putting effort into your role, we achieve great goals together."
