During May, we welcomed 9 News to our Smithfield materials recovery facility (MRF).
As the largest MRF in Australia, Smithfield processes recycling for 1 million households in New South Wales.
The story shared with audiences the process to separate household recycling and how, while many of us mean well, we can end up ‘wish-cycling’ (putting something that isn’t recyclable in the recycling bin, in the hope it will get recycled).
The process was explained by Luke Krstanovski, Visy Recycling NSW State Operations Manager and Tierry Lauren, Visy Recycling National Operations Manager.
