We are proud to announce we are the headline sponsor for the Brisbane Junior Rugby Union this year.

The union covers 28 junior rugby clubs across the greater Brisbane region: from Caboolture in the north, to Beenleigh in the south and Ipswich in the west. There are over 7000 players in 700 teams who compete weekly.

Visy is proud to further support local communities through sport, said Mark De Wit, CEO.

“We’re already an important part of many communities across Queensland. We employ over 800 Queenslanders across 20 manufacturing and recycling facilities.

“Sport brings communities together and we’re pleased to support the rugby union this year so that children can have access to a fun and well-run competition.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the kids’ passion and energy to give their best, on and off the field as the season unfolds.”

We’re delighted to have Visy as our headline sponsor, said John Miller, President of the Brisbane Junior Rugby Union— junior rugby’s governing body and competition organiser.

“Visy’s support means we can continue to offer children the chance to play rugby in a safe and family friendly environment.”

“We’re the fastest growing junior sport association in Australia. Visy’s investment in us, and across the state, is recognition of the mutually beneficial relationship between business and the community.”

The Visy Brisbane Junior Rugby Union competition begins with round one on 25 March.

We are investing $700 million to expand our Queensland recycling and remanufacturing operations, including:

  • a new $500 million glass recycling and manufacturing facility in Yatala

  • a new $150 million corrugated box factory in Hemmant

  • $48 million for a major upgrade to its material recovery facility on Gibson Island.
